Elegy to a love that never was

Goodbye my sweet love, I will miss you dearly.
I have finally realized my ineptitude and frailty,
no matter how far I’ll stretch, I’ll never reach you.
So I’m giving this love up, here in front of you.

I’m thinking about how beautiful it could’ve been.
Us two together, but it didn’t turn out that way.
Somebody said, “It wasn’t meant to be you two”,
I was stubborn back then but he really knew.

So this is both an elegy and a final farewell.
To a part of me that lifted you up to the skies,
now slowly fading and bringing you down,
from the pedestal where you used to reside.

Goodbye my dear love,

Caressing a Dream

Sitting on an emerald sea or grass.
Resting in the shadow of lush trees.
A place with peace and tranquility.

There She appears before your eyes.
Walking towards you with a smile.
The kind of smile you’d like to keep.

When reaching you she is totally quiet.
As she slowly lies down beside you.
Putting her head in your open lap.

You feel your heart begin to beat faster.
When she smiles a disarming smile.
Such one making you wish she was yours.

By habit you begin to smooth her hair.
Staring into your eyes she smiles wider.
With trembling fingers you caress her cheek.

Everything is so perfect and complete.
You feel that you finally found The Love.
But it’s in that moment all fades to gray.

Slowly you realize, you’ve been caressing a dream.
